    Responsibilities

    Job Summary:
    Provides inpatient medical services in acute care Facility, including critical care units.  Supports surgical and specialty services through general internal medicine consultations.  Serves on work committees as required.

     

     

    Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

    • Admitting: Admits patients for hospital stays evaluates ER patients for inpatient admission.
    • Prescribing and Ordering: Prescribes, orders and interprets diagnostics, e.g., UA, x-rays.
      Care Plan Responsibility:
    • Diagnoses patient condition and develops and monitors appropriate plan of care for inpatient stay and post-hospital care.
    • Case Management: Working with Facility Physician Advisor and Case Management Team, plans appropriate discharge including post-hospital care, if any.
    • Documentation: Documents all clinical and other professional input from members of the Care Team in day-to-day patient encounters, rounding and care management.   Document legibly, clearly and factually and complete in a timely manner.
    • Clinical Referrals: Consults with and refers to other medical/surgical specialists when appropriate as patient's condition requires.
    • Consultations: Attends inpatient consultations  in areas of specialty, e.g. consulted by surgeon for patient in Facility with medical condition.
    • Other Essential Functions: Meets assigned work schedule, exhibiting flexibility to accommodate short term changes; performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
    • Follow All Rules and Policies: Performs work according to rules, regulations, policies and guidelines; complies with standards in the PhySynergy/Facility Compliance Programs, patient privacy, safety, infection control and other applicable policies.

    Qualifications

    • MD or DO, successfully completed specialty training in internal, family or hospital medicine at accredited institution.
    • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Alabama, federal and state prescriptive authority, and board certification in one of the above named specialties obtained and maintained according to Facility medical staff bylaws.
    • Current BCLS/ACLS certifications.
    • Clinical training and skills as mandated by professional certifying body. Ability to work with others in a cooperative, collaborative manner; effectively communicate in English both orally and in writing with people from diverse professional, education and lifestyle backgrounds; and direct work of others while personally handling multiple tasks in a variety of patient care situations.
